Paper sizes for photo layouts

The sheet is the outside rectangle of a layout. Choose a paper size your printer supports, then place the photo at its own physical dimensions inside that sheet.

Three paper families

The A-series entries use millimetre dimensions from A0 through A8. The B entries are explicitly ISO B4 and ISO B5. The inch-defined group includes Letter, Legal, Tabloid, Executive, and Statement. Each page keeps the defining measurement distinct from rounded display conversions.

Resolve names and aliases

ISO B4 is 250 × 353 mm and ISO B5 is 176 × 250 mm. JIS B4 and B5 are different sizes. Check the millimetres when a printer menu uses B4 or B5 without a qualifier.

Tabloid and Ledger refer here to the same 11 × 17 inch sheet in different orientations. Half Letter is an alias of 5.5 × 8.5 inch Statement. The catalog does not create duplicate pages for those names or for landscape orientation.

Keep image size separate from sheet size

A5 can hold a 5 × 7 inch photo with a border, but A5 is not itself 5 × 7 inches. A6 is close to 4 × 6 inches but is shorter along the long edge. Those differences matter when an image must fit a frame or be trimmed to an exact size.

Each paper page includes an original measured example. Use it to understand the layout, then check your own photo, gaps, and margins. The examples do not establish a printer’s supported printable area.

Verify the physical output

A PDF can describe a sheet your device cannot feed. Confirm media support before printing, match the selected page size, and use actual-size output. Measure the calibration mark to detect scaling before relying on a finished print.
