Sheet dimensions
Check the narrowest remaining margin, not just the amount of unused paper overall. A centred layout can have large spaces above and below the photo while leaving almost no usable space along its sides.
| Measurement | Value |
|---|---|
| Millimetres | 420 × 594 |
| Centimetres | 42 × 59.4 |
| Inches (approximately) | 16.5354 × 23.3858 |
| Landscape millimetres | 594 × 420 |
A layout at actual size
A portrait 12 × 18 inch photo measures 304.8 × 457.2 mm. On A2 it leaves 57.6 mm at each side and 68.4 mm above and below. A 16 × 20 image also fits the sheet geometrically, but its side spaces drop to 6.8 mm, with 43 mm above and below.
Margins and printing limits
A 16 × 24 print has a 609.6 mm long edge, exceeding A2’s 594 mm length. It cannot be reproduced at that size on a single A2 page. Printer-specific borderless settings do not make the physical sheet longer.
The spaces in the example are calculated from the paper and image rectangles. They are not a device-specific margin recommendation. Match the PDF page to the loaded paper and check a physical calibration mark before relying on the final dimensions.
