Sheet dimensions
For repeated prints, work out the total grid width and height before adding outer margins. The gaps between photos are part of that footprint. A layout that fits without gaps can become too large as soon as cutting space is added.
| Measurement | Value |
|---|---|
| Millimetres | 297 × 420 |
| Centimetres | 29.7 × 42 |
| Inches (approximately) | 11.6929 × 16.5354 |
| Landscape millimetres | 420 × 297 |
A layout at actual size
Four portrait 5 × 7 inch frames in two columns and two rows, with a 10 mm gap, occupy 264 × 365.6 mm. Centred on portrait A3, the grid leaves 16.5 mm at the left and right and 27.2 mm at the top and bottom. Each photo remains exactly 127 × 177.8 mm.
Margins and printing limits
A 12-inch-wide photo is 304.8 mm wide, so it exceeds A3’s 297 mm short edge. A nominal 12 × 12 or 12 × 18 print needs a larger sheet for actual-size output. Read the PDF page size and the photo rectangle separately.
The spaces in the example are calculated from the paper and image rectangles. They are not a device-specific margin recommendation. Match the PDF page to the loaded paper and check a physical calibration mark before relying on the final dimensions.
